It's no secret that nature has the ability to nurture our bodies and our minds.
The smell of fresh air can revitalize and enliven us.
The sound of a gentle rainfall can soothe and comfort us.
The feeling of soft, warm sand on your toes has the ability to melt stress away.
The taste of a perfectly ripe strawberry is not only a delight, but provides nutrients to our bodies.
So, how can we nurture ourselves with nature when we can't get outdoors?
Open a window.
If you have access to a window, open it. Even if it's a little chilly outside, cracking a window to let fresh air in for a few minutes can clear out stale, stagnant energy and refresh you. If you're in a windowless office and are able to take a five minute break, make it a point to pop outside for a few deep breaths.
Soothe with sound.
I love a rainy night in. To me, there is nothing more relaxing than being curled up on the sofa listening to the rain falling on the windows knowing that I have nowhere to be but right there - cozy at home.
Sometimes the weather doesn't quite sync up to when we have the time for that relaxing night in. Lucky for us there are numerous apps for our phones and sound machines we can use to help us recreate that feeling. I love this app. It gives you the ability to layer different sounds at different volumes for a custom sound, and it's free!
Bring the garden indoors.
A cheerful bouquet of flowers, a beautifully scented candle, or a few (naturally) floral fragranced body care products are some of my favorite ways to get a daily dose of flower power.
I love to burn Bloom during the day. It is a beautiful blend of gardenia, grapefruit, and jasmine. For nighttime I love Black Magic. The combination of black rose, plum, and labdanum meld together to create a deeply mysterious fragrance.
If you're looking to take your flowers with you, give one of our botanical perfumes a try. Not only are they full of mood enhancing essential oils, they smell divine.
Cook something you love.
Grab your favorite fruits and vegetables, and your favorite recipe, and make a meal full of delicious flavors for yourself and your loved ones.
The ingredients will nourish your body and sharing it with people you love will nourish your soul - what could be better than that?
Until next time...
